Natural Disaster Plan for you and your cat

Welcome to the latest edition of my blog. Life as a cat is pretty good I have a home and family off my own who love to give me lots of attention and tantalising cat treats. It’s totally awesome, yep!

Recently I was watching the news because I like to be an informed cat and I saw that there were terrible bush fires in Australia. This made me very sad for all the people and the animals who lost their homes as a result of the fires. It got me thinking about the importance of being prepared in case of an emergency.  I know you can’t live your life in fear however I want to encourage all of my fans to consider developing an emergency evacuation plan for you and your pet.

Firstly, I suggest determining where you could relocate your pet too if you have to evacuate. Identify if they have any specific requirements. For example, some boarding kennels require animals have up to date vaccinations.

The next step I suggest is having an emergency pack prepared for each of your pets which have the following items included

·        Blankets, bedding and nesting materials: Most animals, myself included will not like being moved to a new location. After all the house is our domain. Therefore if you can make sure that these items are familiar to us it will help comfort us during a very stressful time.

·        Toys

·        Food and water: Don’t forget to include some bowls for us to eat and have a drink.

·        Carrier: Cat carriers usually take us bad places like to the vet so we may be hesitant to get into our carrier. You might like to get different carrier than the one you would normally use. If it’s different we may be intrigued by this new item in the home so we may cooperate with you. If this doesn’t work and you are like Kona and more intrigued by box you may like to use the box to carry us to the car and then have one of your humans ready to put us in our normal carrier.

·        Litter box and litter

·        In a water proof bag place a picture of your pet, vet contact information and our vaccination certificates.

·        You may also like to put a preppy collar with a personalised ID tag on your pet. If they are like me and don’t go outside you at least want to have some reassurance that if we do get separated that whoever picks us up knows that we have staff members.

Be preppy, be prepared but make sure you live your life to the fullest too.

Moving to a new home

Hello everyone,

Welcome to this edition of my totally awesome new blog. Did you know sometimes humans have to move to a different home? It could be unavoidable and for a number of different reasons. This is a prospect that can be very scary for us cats. I wish humans would appreciate how much work is involved in finding the best sunning spots to take a nap. But still we want to support our humans. After all, they rescued us from the shelter; give us lots of love, attention and tantalizing cat treats. So I thought I would give you my suggestions on how to look after your cat when moving to a new home.

1. Board your cat for a few days before you make the move: Whilst I personally find travelling in the car extremely lame. Travelling to a boarding facility can be helpful so you don’t have to worry about your cat getting lost or escaping. Lets face it with all the strangers coming in and out of the home I know I wouldn’t like it.  I would want to come home to a fully set up preppy pad.
2. Nominate one or two rooms for your cat to stay in for the first few days. Make sure all windows are closed and that any other escape routes are blocked off so that your cat doesn’t get out. Be sure to include your cats bedding, toys and clothing smelling off you. This will be comforting to us and help us settle into our new environment.  Set up our food area and a space for us to use the litter-box.
3. Maintain regular feeding schedules. Try and keep our routines the same as we had in the previous home.
4. Spend time with your cat in the room he/she is staying in. I would suggest low-key activities such as reading or watching TV.

Once all the packing is completed gradually give your cat access to the rest of the house. When your cat begins to explore your new home reward your cat with tantalizing cat treats.

My tips for keeping all the preppy felines entertained

Welcome to my new totally awesome blog! Us cats are fascinating creatures and I should know after all I have so many wonderful fans around the world who follow my show and me on YouTube and social media. So I thought I’d share my insights with you and your cats.

It can be hard when our humans go off to work everyday. In my case If you don’t have another cat to annoy you like Kona it can be quite boring. So here are my tips to keep all the preppy felines entertained.

Provide a room with a view: Windows are our TV. Your human may like to get a birdbath or feeder and place this near a window in your home.

Plant a garden of catnip: I was so excited when I read there is a catnip plant that you can grown in your own home. Mmmm catnip I love it so much. Oops sorry I am getting sidetracked. J You can purchase catnip starter seeds from a garden nursery. If you have a small human this maybe a good project to allow them to bond with your cat. A catnip plant is perfect for indoor cats that don’t get much stimulation. Oh I must get master to do this for me  that would be so cool

Your human can also grow cat grass for you inside. We like to chew on grass but it can be very dangerous for us to go outside so if you can grow cat grass this will help us with our digestion and help the elimination of furballs. Furballs are lame.

Allocated playtime: House cats don’t need to hunt but we still have the skills, which lie dormant if cats have nothing at its disposal to satisfy these urges so playtime is essential. My favorite game is to chase and bat around my toy mouse. Defender cat is another favorite game especially because master gets involved too.

A few other inexpensive suggested games

-          Get some ribbon: Move it around and watch as your cat will try and chase it around and pounce on it.

-          Recycle your tennis or golf balls

-          Cut peepholes in empty boxes or tape boxes together to form a tunnel

A preppy checklist for adopting a cat

Hello everyone,

As you know pet adoption is a cause very close to my master and me. I consider myself to be a very fortunate preppy cat to have such a wonderful forever home to call my own.

If you are thinking about adopting a cat from a local shelter I have developed a preppy checklist of supplies you will need to welcome your newest family member.

• A cat bed: A basket is essential for a cat. Soft fabric is the best kind we don’t want it to be too thickly padded.

• A blanket: If it gets cold we can use this in our basket

• Litterbox: My personal favorite is an enclosed litterbox this way your cat has some privacy. Be sure to place the litterbox in a quite location and that your cat always has access to it.

• Litter for the litterbox

• Climbing tree and scratching post: If your cat is like Kona wrecks things a scratching post and climbing tree may save your furniture. When we scratch an item whether its a climbing tree, scratching post or furniture we peel the outer layer from our retractile claws. We also mark the scent glands on the underside of off our front paws.

• Food and water bowls

• Cat food: Talk to the shelter about what your cat has been eating. If you make any changes be sure to do this gradually so your cat doesn’t get an upset tummy.

• Toys: We need to be kept amused especially if you are only cat. Oh my life was so good when I was only cat. My personal favorites things to play with are toy mice and ping-pong balls. They are really great to chase, swat and stalk.

• Collar and Tag: A stylish cat collar with a tag, which has contact details of both your humans and vet on it, is a good idea especially if your cat is going to be an outdoor cat.  Some collars come with a bell on it which can be a good way to help protect the wildlife.

• Cat nip: Because catnip is totally awesome yep!

Script for Super Hero Cat Saves Kona Part 1 - N2 S3 Ep9

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd start posting the scripts to the episodes that I put on my channel, I hope you enjoy them

This is the script for the last episode

Super Hero Cat Saves Kona Part 1 - N2 S3 Ep9 

VersaBC: Ok N2, everyone's been waiting for this story, tell us how Super Hero Cat saved Kona

N2: Well, it all happened like this…. 

(shot blurs out)

N2: Super hero cat was in disguise in one of his preppy blue outfits, surrounded by 1000's of Oglogs

Then everything became Green and SuperHero Cat  blasted his way past all the Oglogs with his Super Sonic Purr 

The sound waves of that Super Sonic Purr were quite Super Sonic Indeed, yep 

Scanning the Oglogs secret lair with his Super Duper Scanning vision, our hero spots the Oglogs Main Headquarters where they've developed a sinister time machine of their own, complete with a functional flux capacitor  

Continuing his Scan of the facility our hero finds Kona locked behind bars in a cold dark prison 

Our Hero crashes to the ground inside wearing his cape and shouts, KONA!

Kona was very intrigued, who was this fine young dashing feline specimen

N2 Health Update: Still Sick

Hello everyone,

I thought I would give you an update on my health right now.  This morning I didn't do so well.  I got very sick again.  I have a feeling it may be due to the new senior food I blogged about yesterday.  My stomach was very upset and I had some accidents as you can see in this video.

I'm going to try to stick with an all wet food diet for now and see if that does the trick.  I'm hoping that it will be that simple as the vet just doesn't seem to know why I'm getting sick at the moment

I want to thank you for all of your kind words on Facebook and all of the wonderful things you say about me, it really helps to lift my spirits during this time in my life

N2's Health and Fan Mail

Hello everyone,

It's been a very busy week and things look to keep up at this pace for the next little while.  Kona has been very kind to me as I've been dealing with my food intolerance's, she only fights me twice a day now.

As you may have seen in the most recent video, I've had trouble with dry food and am making a partial switch to wet food.   You can watch my reaction to my new food here:

I've been doing much better on wet food and I've only been sick twice so far.  When I do get sick it's much less than on the dry food.  When Master (slave) went to go pick up my new wet food he was informed that there is a senior formula for cats that helps kitties like me with sensitive stomachs.  The food is the best they have, it's called "Now".  You can click this link  MY NEW HEALTHY FOOD to go to their web site and read all about it.

The mix of wet and dry food seems to satiate my appetite and maintain my health.  Although my back pain has not gone away I feel much better than when I was on the other food even though it was the same brand but the adult cat formula.  They are both grain free so that makes me happy.

I Get Tuna

I hope you love it, it was a lot of fun to shoot.  Many of the shots were over a period of days because Kona and I were a little difficult to film for some reason this time.

This video tells the world that us cats measure our wealth by how much TUNA we get and not money like many humans.

Watch as I stack my tuna all around the house and let me know of some crazy and fun places that you like to stack your tuna.

The next video will be me and Kona answering fan letters that we've received over the past few months.  It's going to be a lot of fun and something we're going going to try to do every month if possible so feel free to send in your fan mail and it might just get read on my channel!
